Originally, this was the location of the Golden Eagle Brewery. The business closed after a fire in 1881, and the building itself was destroyed after a second fire a year later.
The two-story Crystal Palace was subsequently built on the vacant site. The second story housed offices, one of which belonged to Tombstone Marshal Virgil Earp.
